This new apparatus must be operated by a candidate familiar with analog and digital electronics, based on previous employment experience. The new results from this study are important for Planetary Science and satellite observations from NASA spacecraft for my NSF Aeronomy program. The person must be familiar with Python computer programming and willing to learn IDL The UV emission cross sections for interpreting the middle UV dayglow of Mars by the MAVEN spacecraft built by LASP are not currently available and the person must have had a background class in their undergraduate program in Space Physics and Astronomy.

It is important that the candidate have hands-on skills in operating and repairing mechanical and electronic equipment. The candidate will be employed in the laboratory experiment to operate the electron source at low electron energy from 10-100eV to achieve measurements of basic spectral and cross section data tables from computer analysis using Python and IDL. The candidate will provide hands on work after training by the UV team at LASP to change electron gun filaments as needed to make the electron source operational in order to make this measurement possible.
