Salary/Pay Range: $39,012-$46,703 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Student Engagement, the Coordinator of Student Engagement is responsible for the oversight, advisement, and implementation of programming related to student clubs and organizations, LIVE Leadership, and student activities planning. This position delivers and assesses programming that promotes student retention through engagement and supports the mission of the Department of Student Life and Leadership. Additionally, responsibilities include student employee and graduate assistant supervision, management of the student engagement platform, "Mountain Lion Connect, and day to day advisement and support of student club and organization event planning and travel processes. Additionally, the position supports the ongoing supervision of the Student Life & Leadership Front Desk, including the training of student workers, management, and day-to-day alignment with the Student Life and Leadership customer service model. A varied work schedule is required to include evening and weekend events. As a member of the university community, the position collaborates across the institution with various campus departments to deliver high quality activities and programs inclusive of but not limited to the following: University Center, Dean of Students, MOSAIC, Residential Life and Housing, Campus Recreation, Risk Management, Public Safety, Facility Services, and Academic Departments.

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Coordinate all aspects of student club and organizational operations that includes the following:
  • Fall and Spring Club Registration Renewal Process
  • Fall and Spring New Club Registration Processes
  • Student Club/Organization Event Registration and Advisement Process
  • Conducting Student Club Orientation(s) during applicable registration period(s)



Student Clubs and Organizations
  • Develop, promote, implement, and assess monthly club training programs and topics that educate club leaders on processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversee and execute the student club and organization travel process, including associated forms, club meetings, involvement of campus partners, and travel management.
  • Responsible for coordinating semesterly club and organization engagement opportunities, including "Light the Spine" and "ROAR Days" Club event highlight week, among other club engagement programs.
  • Chair and plan the student club/leader award ceremony and program, "ROAR Awards."
  • Host at least two student club and organization fairs during the academic year.
  • Regularly meet and communicate with club advisors by providing operational updates and training opportunities, in addition to recruiting new advisors for clubs.
  • Identify and advance club and organization outreach opportunities to increase student participation in clubs and organizations, partnering with various clubs and organizations, Residential Life and Housing, MOSAIC, and academic units.
  • Regularly update the student club and organization handbook with accurate information, ensuring it is accessible through websites, engagement platforms, and other channels.
  • Assist and mentor club/organization officers in their development within their positions and in other areas.
  • Conduct regular outreach to all student clubs and organizations and attend club meetings when deemed necessary.
  • Prepare and distribute a regular club newsletter, as well as ongoing marketing materials specific to club and organization activities.

Launching Integrity, Values, and Excellence (LIVE) Leadership Program
  • Assist the Associate Director of Student Engagement with the programming, curriculum development, and delivery for LIVE Leadership.
  • Meet with LIVE leaders individually and/or in small groups each semester to discuss progress towards leadership goals and to provide general mentoring and guidance.
  • Assist Associate Director of Student Engagement with planning and coordinating the LIVE Leadership annual retreat.
  • Participate and help manage the annual LIVE Leadership Scholarship selection process.
  • Assist Associate Director in planning and coordinating the LIVE Leadership seminar series, orientation, and end of year banquet.
  • Regularly update and track LIVE leader scholarship data, including GPAs, scholarship progress, involvement, class registration, anticipated graduation dates, and end of the year assessment data.
  • Assist Associate Director of Student Engagement with monthly, semesterly, and annual reports

Mountain Lion Connect and Digital Club Content Manager
  • Provide support for student clubs and organizations toward the management and content creation of club pages within Mountain Lion Connect (MLC), UCCS' Student Engagement Platform.
  • Build and execute various MLC student, department, and club advisor trainings.
  • Continually promote, update content, and serve as the primary contact for "Club Match".
  • Remain informed on all updates to the MLC system, communicating and providing training as needed.
  • Serve as a one of the Department of Student Life and Leadership's points of contact for posting items on Mountain Lion Connect.
  • Serve as a liaison between Student Life and Leadership and the Anthology company that supports MLC.

Student Employee Supervision
  • Supervise a graduate assistant who works with student clubs and organizations.
  • Recruit, hire, schedule, supervise and evaluate the graduate assistant and any other associated student employees.
  • Work with student employees within the Department of Student Life and Leadership to plan and host club trainings, as well as traditional programs such as ROAR Days and ROAR Awards.

Student Life and Leadership Front Desk
  • Co-supervise the Student Life & Leadership Front Desk, including the training of student workers, management, and day-to-day alignment with the Student Life and Leadership customer service model.

Student Life and Leadership Assessment and Student Retention
  • Consistently scan student I.D.s and track attendance at all events.
  • Establish student learning outcomes for all traditional programs and events, while monitoring and assessing the impact of those outcomes on student development. Lead all post-event assessments to ensure programs are meeting needs of students and meeting the goals and expectations of the department.
  • Align programming with the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) Standards
  • Provide the Director of Student Engagement with monthly reports tracking the following:
    • Attendance numbers for all Student Life and Leadership sponsored and co-sponsored events.
    • Total number of Student Life sponsored and co-sponsored events o Learning objective/outcome for each Student Life program and anecdotal notes on the success and/or areas for improvement
    • Conduct regular program assessment--polling student interest in programs designed to foster student engagement. Collect, analyze, and report findings, while also using the data to inform key decision-making regarding student programing.

Student Life and Leadership Duties
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and reporting of payroll, travel requests, purchases, reconciliation of procurement card receipts, and other applicable accounting and finance functions.
  • Support the Associate Director of Student Engagement on special events and programming that occur throughout the course of the year.
  • Provide timely communication with all stakeholders.
  • Support and model the Student Life and Leadership norms.
  • Serve as the Student Life and Leadership representative on campus programming committees.
  • Schedule and participate in regular event scheduling and coordination meetings with Event Services.
  • Assist with Student Life and Leadership website design, updating, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Update leave requests for prior approval and submit timesheets per the UCCS standard.
  • Ensure all marketing and advertisements follow the branding standards.
  • Participate in required staff development activities, as well as optional staff development opportunities as resources permit.

Tentative Search Timeline

Qualifications
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in higher education in student affairs, education, communication, leadership, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Experience (including graduate work) that includes advising college students in the co-curricular arena encompassing student programs, leadership, and/or event planning is required.
  • Experience supervising student employees or other employees is required.
  • A Master's degree in student affairs, education, or applicable field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Experience working with student clubs and organizations in a college setting is preferred.
  • Highly qualified applicants will have experience applying student development theory in a volunteer or employment setting.
  • Experience with event planning is preferred
