Job Description

The Internship Program Assistant will assist the NCS with the administration and support of the Commercialization and Entrepreneurship Internship Program (CEI), a grant-funded internship program for UNR students with Nevada Tech Hub organizations. The Nevada Career Studio's CEI Program seeks to address a critical need for skilled talent in the commercialization of lithium battery technologies and electric vehicle (EV) materials by cultivating a pipeline of student talent equipped to contribute to commercialization efforts and entrepreneurial ventures within the Tech Hub ecosystem.

This position offers significant opportunity to engage with community employers as well as students and faculty on campus and is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in career services, program development, and/or community outreach.

Responsibilities
  • Assists Program Coordinator in internship onboarding process, to include review internship job descriptions, communicating with employers to collect required documentation for University partnership, posting positions to Handshake, promoting positions, as well as vetting students for program eligibility
  • Assists with administration and processing of subawards to employer partners
  • Works with student applicants to improve hiring materials (e.g. resumes, cover letters, etc)
  • Presenting on behalf of NCS at student organizations, classes, etc. and program orientations
  • Coordinates communication between university and internship site supervisors as well as intern
  • Gathers and maintains database of program documentation received, from legal documentation to intern assignments
  • Answers questions related to internship programs/University internship policies and provides correspondence throughout internship timeline
  • Meeting with students, employers, and prospective employers
  • Monitor and respond to emails
  • SIR, subaward administration, and Travel/Expense reports
  • Various Workday processes and special projects as needed


Required Qualifications
  • Be currently enrolled in graduate degree program at the University of Nevada, Reno.
  • Graduation date of May 2027 or later
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Professional communication and customer service skills as they will be communicating frequently with community employers, students, and faculty
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrate commitment to confidentiality
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and have ability and willingness to collect and organize data as well as learn and work with new software and web applications (demonstrated tech-savvy preferred)


Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Some knowledge of, or experience with program implementation and/or event organization


Schedule
  • 15 hours per week (37.5% FTE)
  • Minimum of three work shifts across the work week
  • Preferred Monday availability
  • Hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between 8:00am - 5:00pm
  • Office hours are to be worked in the NCS
  • Some remote work may be allowed but not guaranteed, to be coordinated and approved by Supervisor

Graduate Assistantship including 9 credits of Grant-in-Aid
