Position Type/Expected Hours of Work -

This is a full-time, CWA position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: Those non-faculty employees in the "NE" category of employment may have irregular or variable work hours. The compensatory time policy for NL employees applies to "NE" employees up to 40 hours per week. Beyond 40 hours, the overtime policy for fixed workweek employees applies (i.e., rate of time and one-half in payment or compensatory time).

The start date for this position is expected to be on or around June 1, 2026

Salary Range:
CWA - PSS4
P18 - Steps 1-3
Current $ Range $56,253 - $61,382, and effective July 11, 2026 this range increases to $58,222 - $63,530

Internal Applicants' salaries will be based on union-negotiated calculations

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, this position is responsible for day-to-day accounting work as assigned.

Examples of Duties


DUTIES:
  • Post entries in the general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
  • Analyze and reconcile various accounts, including banking, balance sheet, and various profit & loss accounts.
  • Checks and reviews daily accounting control reports. Any findings are brought directly to the Assistant Controller.
  • Assists department personnel on accounting matters as required.
  • Prepares accounting and financial reports as assigned.
  • Maintains accounting records and files.
  • Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems.


Qualifications


REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Graduated from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with the ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of core accounting concepts.

EXPERIENCE:

One year of relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work with a diverse population and have a strong customer service orientation.


  • Technical skills with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.


  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.


  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies to the operating needs of the unit.


  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks.


  • Working knowledge of Ellucian Banner 9.0, finance module preferred.
