Job Summary
The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) is hiring a Research Development Associate to support its community and stakeholder engagement programs. This position will work with the CTSI's Associate Director of Engagement Science Innovation and Translation (EnScIT) Program (75% effort) and the CTSI's Community Collaboration & Engagement Team (CCET) (25% effort).
The Engagement Science Innovation and Translation (EnScIT) Program seeks to 1) provide the CTSI with translational science resources and tools grounded in evidence that strengthen and sustain patient and community engagement and 2) create innovations in engagement methods (e.g., strategies, evaluation methods, measures of engagement outcomes) related to the translational science goals of the Utah CTSI. EnScIT works collaboratively with the CCET to develop and test innovations in engagement tools and resources, and to disseminate new engagement approaches.
The mission of the CCET is to support researchers, individuals, institutions, agencies, patients, providers, and other stakeholders in developing successful research collaborations that address researchers' interests and communities' health needs. CCET services provide a structured setting for researchers to enhance their research projects by learning from community experts. Through these services, CCET facilitates collaborations between researchers and community members to develop community-engaged research methods, instruments, and educational materials for research projects.

Responsibilities
ResponsibilitiesEngagement Science Innovation and Translation (EnScIT) Program (75% effort)
- Collaborate with the Associate Director of EnScIT to advance the mission and specific objectives of EnScIT.
- Develop, organize, and support all aspects of strategic planning and execution of goals, budgets, and timelines.
- Conducts systematic and narrative reviews to provide evidence on the effectiveness of engagement strategies and how they work for specific populations and communities.
- Develops, tests, and refines new engagement strategies, measures, and tools grounded in evidence-based practice.
- Organizes and facilitates workshops and other events focused on building collaborations among researchers and community leaders.
- Educates faculty, students, and community partners on evidence-based engagement of patients, community members, and other partners in clinical and behavioral research, clinical services development, and health systems development.
- Prepares training materials to support the CTSI's educational mission, including contributing to the MCSI curriculum course on engagement and raising public awareness of how engagement fosters bidirectional communication between the CTSI and patients, communities, and other interested partners.
- Supports internal research and program evaluation. Tests new engagement approaches and measures engagement context, processes, and outcomes using qualitative and quantitative methods.
- Provides consultation to faculty members on developing sound engagement plans for their research programs.
- Works closely with staff, EnScIT and CCET co-directors, and community stakeholders and university partners to cultivate strong partnerships and collaborative relationships that facilitate and accelerate community-engaged research and translational science locally and nationally.
- Other duties as assigned
Community Collaboration and Engagement Team (CCET) (25% effort)
- Supports the delivery of engagement services through the service-recharge center as requested.
- Networks with community and university partners to build and maintain the broad, diverse connections needed to conduct the CCET's work.
- Assists in preparing reports and manuscripts related to the CCET's work and the research facilitated by the CCET.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree + two years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

Research Development Associate II: Min. Qualifications: Requires a Bachelors' (or equivalency) +4 years or a Master's (or equivalency) +2 years of directly related work experience.
Research Development Associate III: Min. Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor's (or equivalency) +6 years or a Masters (or equivalency) +4 years directly related work experience.
Preferences
This position requires 1) strong verbal and written communication skills and analytical expertise, 2) training in behavioral, social, or organizational science, such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, communication, public health (e.g., health systems research, implementation science), population health, bioinformatics, nursing, or social work, and 3) community engagement experience, team-building experience, and demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.Master's degree or PhD degree preferred
