Position Description

The Clinical Onboarding Coordinator is responsible for onboarding all pre-licensure nursing students on a quarterly basis to their clinical rotations. This position facilitates a positive clinical experience for SU CNHS students by keeping them informed of the clinical onboarding requirements, processes, and timelines and ensures that students meet those requirements before going to clinical agencies. The Clinical Onboarding Coordinator is the primary contact for the prelicensure clinical placement agencies and serves as the CNHS liaison with these organizations with whom nursing students have their clinical experiences. The Clinical Onboarding Coordinator is responsible for building positive relationships with clinical partners and participates in official communications and problem solving to maintain positive relationships with the clinical sites and community agencies.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Clinical Onboarding Operations (75%)

  • Collect, assign, facilitate and onboard pre-licensure nursing students to clinical sites each academic term.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clinical sites and community agencies. Maintain an ongoing record of each agency's onboarding protocol and timeline.
  • Foster open communication with clinical placement sites and rapidly address needs/concerns.
  • Maintain a database of clinical site information, including onboarding requirements and key administrative contacts for student placements.
  • Update and maintain student and faculty vaccination records and required certification status (e.g., BLS) to ensure they are cleared to attend clinical rotations.
  • Prepare, monitor, and keep records of student clinical experiences for the Washington State Board of Nursing accreditation purposes.
  • Plan, develop, and maintain accurate clinical grid assignments for students. Work collaboratively to resolve complex placement change issues and requests of students and clinical faculty.
  • Develop and implement processes for collecting, maintaining, and updating student onboarding data and clinical agency onboarding protocols.
  • Provide support to students regarding concerns faced during their clinical rotation or regarding their placement.

Clinical Program Support (25%)
  • Serve as a back-up for Undergraduate Program Coordinator for undergraduate events such as the recruitment and orientation events, information sessions of current students regarding clinical onboarding requirements and process and other events as required.
  • Collaborate with Vice Dean, Program Directors, and Assistant Dean for Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance on special data collection projects.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and two or more years of progressive administrative responsibilities preferably in healthcare or administrative academic setting; or a combination of education and experience to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • The candidate must be able to successfully use MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, MS SharePoint, and MS Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to present to small and large groups students and other stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge or willingness to learn SU student records system.
  • Perform well in a fast-paced work environment. Maintains composure when managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to monitor, assess, and triage evolving situations and take initiative to suggest and/or implement solutions.
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusivity and to the university's mission, vision, and values.

Preferred:

  • Some knowledge or prior experience in health care or health professions education.

Compensation at a Glance

Salary Range: $53,000 - $55,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
