About the Position

Reporting to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services and working with the Title IX Officer, the Campus Survivor Advocate serves as the campus-wide confidential advocate (as outlined in CSU Executive Order 1095 and section 1035.2 of the California Evidence Code) for survivors of sexual misconduct, dating/domestic violence and stalking; provides emergency and ongoing support services and assistance in order to ensure the well-being and safety of victims/survivors/complainants; responds pro-actively to safety and emergency issues; use counseling and interview skills and techniques with individuals who have experienced sexual misconduct, dating/domestic violence and/or stalking; maintains an office which is supportive and confidential for victims/survivors/complainants of sexual misconduct, domestic violence and stalking; provides crisis intervention and advocacy for students, faculty and staff on a walk-in basis and by appointment; provides appropriate resources and referrals for individual victims/survivors/complainants; and provides information regarding on and off campus reporting options, including Title IX information and reporting process. Also, provides educational counseling services to a broad and diverse student population.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Providing professional advice and assistance to sexual violence victims/survivors/complainants Provides emergency and ongoing support services and assistance in order to ensure the well-being and safety of victims/survivors/complainants Responds pro-actively to safety and emergency issues; use counseling and interview skills and techniques with individuals who have experienced sexual misconduct, dating/domestic violence and/or stalking Maintains an office which is supportive and confidential for victims/survivors/complainants of sexual misconduct, domestic violence and stalking Provides crisis intervention and advocacy for students, faculty and staff on a walk-in basis and by appointment Provides information regarding on and off campus reporting options, including Title IX information Accompanies victims/survivors/complainants, at their request and with their permission, and be with them as a support person throughout all stages of the investigation, counseling, medical appointment, legal appointments, etc. Serves as a liaison for issues within the Title IX Office, University Police Department, University Housing Services, Student Conduct & Ethical Development and other key campus departments Participates in sexual violence prevention and awareness activities and programs Actively collaborates with campus units to develop and provide campus-wide awareness and outreach activities Provides educational counseling to a broad and diverse student population Provides individual educational counseling, assessing for suicide/self-harm risk and interventions to individual students experiencing academic, career, or other learning difficulties

This is a position in the CSU - Management Personnel Plan (MPP), and serves at the pleasure of the President. This position will require adherence to University compliance training such as: Conflict of Interest and Ethics, AB 1825 Sexual Harassment Prevention, Information Security, and Injury and Illness Prevention Program. The person hired for this position may be required to complete an outside employment disclosure statement in accordance with Title V of the California Code of Regulations.
