Job Description:

Brown University Athletics & Recreation is seeking a high-caliber, forward-thinking leader to serve as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Business Office and Revenue Generation/CFO.

In this pivotal role, you will serve as the Division's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Strategic Revenue Officer. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will act as the primary architect of the Division's financial future and the lead strategist for revenue growth. This dual mandate requires a leader who can balance the rigor of multi-year fiscal modeling with the creative energy needed to drive new income streams through ticketing, marketing, and external events. This position oversees the long-term planning and daily management of financial activities for 45+ cost centers, ensuring that budget allocations directly support student-athlete welfare, gender equity, and competitive excellence.

Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Serve as the division's lead financial strategist, advising the Athletics Director on long-term fiscal sustainability, risk mitigation, and resource allocation.
  • Provide active oversight of budget performance across all sport and administrative units, ensuring adherence to approved allocations.
  • Lead the strategy for new ticket revenue streams and outbound sales initiatives.
  • Manage vendor negotiations and service contracts in collaboration with appropriate university partners.

Entry into the candidate pool requires the following:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Experience
  • 7-10 years of experience in athletic administration with a proven track record in both financial management and revenue generation.
  • Deep knowledge of NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations.
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into actionable strategy for university leadership.
  • Excellence in navigating a high-profile university environment and fostering cross-functional coordination.

All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the compliance office and appropriate parties.

Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
