Job Description

Join our University Extension team as the Extension Programming Site Coordinator at the Main Station Field Lab (MSFL)-a dynamic outdoor learning and innovation space supporting multidisciplinary Extension education across Northern Nevada.

The Extension Programming Site Coordinator plays a critical role in developing, maintaining, and overseeing the MSFL Extension Programming Site. You'll be the on-site expert-ensuring the property, infrastructure, equipment, and grounds are safe, functional, and ready to support year-round Extension programming.

Reporting to the Northern Extension Area Director, you'll collaborate closely with Extension faculty, staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure the site operates efficiently and reflects the high standards of the University.

Responsibilites

You'll serve as the on-site lead for the Main Station Field Lab Extension Programming Site, ensuring it is safe, well-maintained, and fully prepared to support year-round Extension education and community programming.

Coordinate development, maintenance, and daily operations of the Extension programming site
Maintain buildings, grounds, fencing, walkways, and equipment to high safety and quality standards
Plan, operate, and maintain irrigation systems; manage weed, rodent, and insect pests
Operate and maintain field equipment and small engines; coordinate repairs as needed
Serve as the primary on-site contact during programming, events, and site improvements
Support Extension faculty, staff, volunteers, and participants; resolve site or user issues
Manage site use permits, inventories, records, and monthly operational reports
Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and compliance with OSHA and safety requirements

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in agriculture, natural resources, facility management, or a related field
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Plant production
- Land, field, or facility management
- Irrigation systems
- Pest control
- Equipment operation and maintenance
Ability to perform hands-on, outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating with diverse stakeholders
Valid Department of Agriculture pesticide license (or willingness/ability to obtain one)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Extension programs, research sites, or educational institutions
Knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices and land stewardship principles
Experience operating and maintaining small engine equipment, tractors, and irrigation systems
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, volunteers, and program participants
Working knowledge of OSHA rules and safety regulations
Experience with record-keeping, budget management, and operational reporting
Flexibility to work a variable schedule based on programming and site needs

Schedule

This is a part-time position (32 hours per week) with a variable schedule based on programming needs. Some minimal travel within Washoe County is required.
