Description
The Department of Chemistry at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time continuing non-tenure track faculty position specializing in advanced laboratory instruction to begin in August 2026. The lab instructor for chemistry laboratories will teach laboratory sections in Analytical, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry, typically four labs per semester. These lab courses are co-taught with faculty who are the instructor of record for the lecture course, contributing to an integrated curriculum and a highly engaged student learning environment.
The lab instructor oversees all aspects of upper-level chemistry laboratories, including maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation, managing chemical and equipment inventories, preparing and breaking down laboratory spaces, and developing and testing new experiments in collaboration with faculty. They also teach and supervise students and TAs, manage course materials and grading on our electronic course management system, and work closely with faculty to deliver a cohesive laboratory curriculum. The position does not include formal summer teaching responsibilities. The contract begins annually on August 1st and lasts through commencement.
This position offers full benefits and a starting salary in the range of $80,686. Appointments will be for an initial period of three years and are eligible for renewal, subject to review procedures established for continuing non-tenure track positions at the College. Benefits, conference travel, and eligibility for support for professional engagement are available through the Provost's Supplemental Research Fund. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching as well as a commitment to inclusive pedagogies and desire to teach laboratory courses. Ph.D. required by the beginning of the appointment.
