Position Description

This position shares the responsibility of providing quality medical/healthcare for student athletes reporting to the Associate Athletics Director/Head Athletic Trainer.

Essential Job Functions

  • Onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation.
  • Assess risk of injury; perform ergonomic evaluation and coaching, self-care implementation and overall wellness promotion.
  • Process electronic documentation of all patient encounters.
  • Attend home intercollegiate contests as directed.
  • Provide athletic training coverage for away contests as deemed appropriate.
  • Coordinate care with Strength and Conditioning staff on injury prevention strategies, training modifications for injury or health and collaboration on performance improvement for holistic and seamless care.
  • Coordinate and implement injury prevention programs and customized preventative strategies and programs to each patient.
  • Minimize risk of injury through awareness, education and prevention strategies.
  • Provide accommodation recommendations, related to sport, for student athletes with restrictions or limitations.
  • Communicate with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes.
  • Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures.
  • Responsible for administrative and other duties as assigned by Director of Sports Medicine.


Qualifications

  • Master's degree in athletic training or related field and two years of athletic training experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Current National Athletic Trainer's Association, Board of Certification (NATABOC) and CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
  • AT Licensure through the state of Washington.
  • Strong written, oral communication skills and organizational skills.

Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA, WAC or WCC, or any athletics conference in which Seattle University is a member or may join, and other established bodies that govern or oversee intercollegiate athletics. In the event Employee becomes aware, or has reasonable cause to believe, that violations of these organizations' constitutions, bylaws, rules or regulations may have taken place, Employee shall promptly report the same to Compliance and Rules Education at the University. Employee shall cooperate fully and completely with any investigation of any alleged violation, whether such investigation is conducted by the University, NCAA or any other duly authorized agency or individual.

Compensation at a Glance

Salary Range: 54,000-56,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
