Lab Technician-Horvath Lab

Job Summary

Clone genes for expressing proteins in bacteria. Cultivate bacteria testing for optimal protein expression. Purify protein from bacteria by immobilized metal affinity chromatography, size exclusion chromatography, and ion exchange chromatography. Measure the binding of purified protein with carbohydrates. Crystalize proteins in complex with carbohydrates.

Responsibilities
Laboratory Technician, IPerform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses. Prepare and weigh samples for testing and analysis. Conduct tests, assays, and other protocols under the direction of a laboratory services manager, physician, nurse, or scientist. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order. May be responsible for calibration of instruments. Entry-level support role. Performs routine tasks as directed and under close supervision.Requires little to no related experience.This is an Entry-Level position in the Support track.Job Code: S56761Grade: S11Expected Pay Range: $10.34 to $20.17

May be responsible for calibration of instruments. Highest-level support. Performs advanced tasks under minimal supervision. Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Laboratory Technician, I: Requires little to no related experience.
Laboratory Technician, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
Laboratory Technician, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience.
Laboratory Technician, IV: Requires 5+ years of related experience.
