Job Summary
A Professional Research Assistant position is available on NIH/NIA-funded projects on gene-environment contributions to aging, cognition and dementia-related outcomes. This project includes data on multiple longitudinal twin studies of aging, including measured environments and GWAS data. This position is ideal for highly motivated individuals with an interest in applying skills in data analysis and management that will contribute to projects evaluating behavioral health outcomes, cognitive aging, mild cognitive impairment and/or dementia risk.
The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Chandra A. Reynolds, with opportunities to interact with other team members including Dr. Daniel Gustavson.

Who We Are
The Institute for Behavioral Genetics (IBG) is an organized research unit of the University of Colorado Boulder Graduate School dedicated to conducting and facilitating research on the genetic and environmental bases of individual differences in behavior. There is a particular interest in the genetics of psychiatric, behavioral and neurological disorders. IBG researchers make use of well characterized longitudinal data arising from both family-based and population based samples. Statistical and epidemiological approaches being used at IBG include twin/family studies, genome-wide association, polygenic scoring methods, GREML and LD-score regression, and the analysis of sequence data. Within IBG, Dr Chandra Reynolds' lab leverages longitudinal, genetic and geospatial approaches to evaluate gene-environment action and coaction as they relate to behavior, health, cognitive functioning and dementia outcomes.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Participating in data management and documentation, e.g. codebooks and manuals
- Participating in data coding and analysis, e.g. applying scoring to datasets, writing and running scripts
- Overseeing data coding by research assistants, evaluating progress and accuracy
- Writing summaries of analyses that may contribute to scientific presentations and manuscripts
What You Should Know
This position is open for 6 months, with possibility of extension, to be filled by Summer 2026.
What We Can Offer
- 60% position, with the possibility of increasing FTE.
- Salary for this 60% position is $27,000 to $29,400 per year subject to experience.

What We Require
- Qualifications include a B.S. or equivalent degree in Psychology or another related field (biology, genetics, bioinformatics, or statistics).
- The candidate will have methodological and statistical skills, experience in statistical computing platforms, including the R statistical language, and an ability to succeed in a collaborative team environment.
