Job Summary


The Aerospace Mechanics Research Center (AMReC) is seeking a part-time, temporary researcher. This position is responsible for conducting theoretical and computational investigations into the mechanical and thermal effects of solid and liquid particles impacting surfaces of hypersonic vehicles. Graduate-level knowledge in solid and fluid mechanics and heat transfer is required, as well as knowledge in computational methods, namely the finite element method. Candidates with experience in coding in MATLAB, Python, and/or C++ are preferred.

Who We Are


The Aerospace Mechanics Research Center (AMReC) is a leader in the development of computational analysis and design optimization methods for complex single- and coupled multi-field problems. This work is complemented by research on high-performance parallel computing strategies, uncertainty quantification, and machine learning. Several methods pioneered by AMReC faculty have become standard tools in academia and industry.

What You Should Know

The position requires in-person work at the CU Boulder campus. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment; candidates must already be legally authorized to work in the United States.

What We Can Offer


The hire rate for this part-time position will be $18.00 - $20.00 per hour.

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

What We Require

Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering or a closely related field.

What You Will Need


BS-level knowledge of fluid and solid mechanics, and numerical methods to solve ordinary and partial differential equations; ability to develop technical reports and documents.
