Job Summary

The Assessment and Evaluation Manager is a research faculty position that leads assessment, evaluation, and learning analytics across the Center for Leadership's student, staff, and faculty programs. This role advances evidence-based improvement by developing assessment frameworks, supporting meaningful learning outcomes, and translating data into actionable insights. Responsibilities include managing complex leadership education data, overseeing survey design and analysis, and producing reports, dashboards, and graphics.
A core responsibility is the design and management of a Leadership Faculty Fellows program, a cohort-based initiative that partners with faculty to evaluate campus leadership programs and strengthen equitable assessment practices. Through this work, the position helps enhance leadership learning outcomes, assessment strategies, and program effectiveness across CU Boulder. Who We Are

The Center for Leadership (CFL) at the University of Colorado Boulder serves as a multidisciplinary leadership hub to support, connect, and elevate leadership programs, resources, and research across the university. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Strategic Assessment & Evaluation Leadership
  • Provide vision and oversight for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of assessment and evaluation practices for CFL programs.
  • Develop and maintain shared leadership learning outcomes aligned with the CFL's values, models, and institutional priorities.
  • Ensure assessment practices support continuous improvement and explicitly "close the loop" by informing program design, pedagogy, and participant experience.
  • Align assessment efforts with university, system, and accreditation expectations as relevant.
Create Data Strategy
  • Support data gathering and analysis to develop the CFL's overall data strategy, reworking raw data into clear, actionable insights, and providing the department with a comprehensive understanding of the data's implications for decision-making and planning.
  • Lead longitudinal data collection and analysis for leadership education, including coordination of surveys, alumni career outcomes data, and key institutional metrics to support ongoing assessment and strategic decision-making.
  • Produce and maintain dashboards and reports to support CFL program assessment, student tracking, and advising, while being a central resource for data location, system integration, and effective use of institutional databases and CRM platforms.
  • Design surveys or other evaluation methods to measure effectiveness of CFL programming. Analyze results and create infographics and other materials showing program efficacy.
  • Assist with development of executive summaries, slide decks, and other work, providing insights for presentation of visually compelling and persuasive summaries in reports and presentations to internal and external partners.
  • Create and maintain complex files, spreadsheets, databases, reports, queries, etc. based on stated objectives and regularly monitors and reports on the status and completion rates.
  • Be the liaison between Data & Analytics and the CFL.
Survey Administration and Analysis
  • Collaborate with the CFL Director and staff on survey design and methodology, providing guidance on standard processes and refining surveys to address needs.
  • Design and implement mixed-methods assessment strategies, including surveys, focus groups, interviews, rubrics, and reflective tools.
  • Select and apply survey methodologies to ensure valid and reliable data collection.
  • Serve as the lead administrator and analyst for CFL surveys, including managing survey setup, invitations, reminders, and incentives.
  • Clean and structure response data for analysis and reporting.
  • Prepare clear, accessible reports for internal stakeholders, funders, and campus leadership that communicate impact and inform decision-making.
Data Manipulation and Analysis
  • Engage with Data & Analytics to identify requirements and data needs related to CFL requests, projects, and services.
  • Evaluate data assets to understand how existing data can inform decision-making or improve processes.
  • Manage assessment data systems and tools and ensure data integrity and ethical use.
Leadership Faculty Fellows Assessment Program
  • Lead the development and facilitation of a Faculty Fellows program focused on leadership program evaluation and assessment capacity-building across campus.
  • Recruit, support, and coordinate a cohort of faculty fellows who:
    • Conduct evaluations of campus leadership programs.
    • Assist program leaders in strengthening learning outcomes and assessment strategies.
    • Share disciplinary and methodological expertise related to teaching, learning, and evaluation.
    • Work closely with program directors, faculty, staff, and student partners to co-create assessment plans and learning outcomes.
  • Design meetings, retreats, and deliverables that support collaboration, knowledge exchange, and applied assessment work.
  • Guide fellows in producing shared resources such as tools, frameworks, reports, and recommendations that benefit campus partners.
Collaboration & Capacity Building
  • Consult with campus colleagues on leadership-related assessment best practices and equitable approaches to evaluation.
  • Offer workshops, resources, and consultations that build assessment literacy among faculty and staff engaged in leadership education.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in leadership assessment, inclusive and equitable evaluation, and higher education assessment practices.
CFL General Support
  • Assist with office communications, including drafting content and assets.
  • Provide event staffing and support for CFL programs and events.
  • Support special projects as assigned by CFL leadership.
  • Represent CFL programs during Board of Advisors meetings, public speaking engagements, and outreach.


What You Should Know

  • The regular in office hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 9am - 4 pm.
  • This position offers a hybrid work modality with a minimum of 3 days in the office on the CU Boulder campus.
  • This position requires occasional evenings/weekend days to support workshops and events.
  • Occasional conference travel required.


What We Can Offer

  • The annual salary range for this position is $90,000-$96,500.
  • Relocation assistance may be available.

What We Require

  • A bachelor's degree in industrial organizational or quantitative psychology, organizational behavior, statistics, applied math, computer science, data science, or related field.
  • Three or more years of experience in higher education assessment, program evaluation, institutional research, or a closely related area.
  • Experience developing research questions and methodologies, curating data sets, conducting analysis, and building data tools and products, and
  • Using reproducible data analytics workflows, and
  • Using SQL, Python, R, and/or SPSS for data queries, data manipulation, and analysis
  • Using Tableau or other data visualization tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with mixed-methods research and evaluation.
