The Department of City & Regional Planning at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania seeks an outstanding scholar for a full-time, tenure-track position with responsibilities for teaching, research, and service. Candidates at the assistant and associate professor levels will be considered for the position.
We seek an exceptional scholar and educator whose research and practice contribute to our department in one or more of the following areas: Urban and Regional Economics; Public Finance; Real Estate and Housing Economics and/or Finance; Housing Planning and/or Policy; and Land Use Planning. The successful candidate will have: 1) a proven track record of scholarly research in one or more of these areas; 2) connections to the broader field of city and regional planning; 3) the ability to teach existing and new courses relevant to the core or concentrations in their area of urban planning specialty; 4) the ability and desire to lead a departmental concentration, certificate program, and/or perform similar administrative duties; 5) leadership experience or potential, including the ability to collaborate and make connections across departments/programs/schools/centers.
The Weitzman School of Design includes City and Regional Planning, Architecture, Fine Arts, Historic Preservation, and Landscape Architecture. The Department of City and Regional Planning offers a two-year Master of City Planning degree, a one-year Master of Urban Spatial Analytics, and a PhD. We welcome the new faculty member to participate in the various research centers located at the School and University.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications: a PhD in Urban Planning or a related field by the start of employment.

Please keep the statement of interest under 500 words and the research and teaching statements under 1,000 words each.
Review of applications will begin on November 1, 2026 and will continue until the position is filled. The position will begin on July 1, 2027, or on a mutually agreed date thereafter.
