Job Description Summary

Ryan Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Part-Time Emergency Veterinary Nurse to join our Emergency Service team. This position supports the care of emergency and critically ill patients, including triage, treatment preparation, diagnostic procedures, anesthesia support, and ongoing patient monitoring.

Job Description

Scheduling Requirement:
This position requires an ongoing commitment to help support our Emergency Service during mid-shift, overnight, weekday, and/or weekend hours. Candidates must be able to regularly contribute to one or more of these scheduling needs to be considered.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist with emergency and critical patient care, including initial patient assessment and triage.
  • Perform and assist with procedures such as IV, arterial, and urinary catheterization and chest tube setup and evacuation.
  • Administer medications and sedatives and assist with anesthesia.
  • Assist with radiology, laboratory testing, and other emergency diagnostic procedures.
  • Monitor patients and recognize changes or potential medical complications.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, veterinarians, faculty, and other members of the veterinary care team.
  • Assist with patient charges, discharges, and other service responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Career Level Classification

This position may be filled at one of the following levels based on credentials and experience:

  • Veterinary Technician B: CVT with 1-3 years of experience
  • Veterinary Technician C: CVT with 3-5 years of experience
  • Veterinary Technician D: CVT with 5-8 years of experience
  • Veterinary Technician E: CVT with 8+ years of experience
