Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a professional Human Resources leader with excellent interpersonal skills to be the Manager, Risk Management for the Business Center North (BCN) campuses. This position is located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus and reports directly to the Associate Vice President, Human Resources.

The Manager, BCN Risk Management, is responsible for the overall functioning of the risk management and workers' compensation programs for all Business Center North (BCN) campuses.

In the area of Workers' Compensation (WC), the Manager is responsible for evaluating workers' compensation claims and managing the efforts of service providers; ensuring that cost controls are monitored; developing policies and procedures; providing management of and legal representation for claims; providing trend analysis; maintaining federally required OSHA logs; and being the technical liaison and WC benefits coordinator for BCN customers.

The Manager administers the BCN risk management program for BCN properties in conjunction with Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) by overseeing policy contract review; program analysis; data/hazard analysis; technical analysis and loss control consulting; and by involvement on boards and committees related to risk management.

In addition to the above responsibilities the Manager oversees ergonomic programs, police wellness, absence management, the annual budget and supervises department staff.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years of related professional work experience, OR

Master's Degree and three (3) years of related professional work experience

Related Experience: Managing a risk management program for an organization or for an insurer or related

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in higher education.

Compensation Grade

The typical salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000.

Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets.
