Part-Time Debate Coach

Position Summary:
College of the Mainland is seeking a part-time debate coach.

Job Duties:

Position travels with debate team during tournament season (September-April).
Hosts regular debate team meetings
Develops debate tournament schedule
Schedules and supervises practice debates and speeches
Coordinates research assignments
Assists debaters with skills development
Regulates evidence distribution and access
Maintains and encourages high academic standards
Promotes transparency in decision making
Develops team competition strategies
Handles portion of judging responsibilities for the debate team
Drives vehicle during debate trips



Minimum Education/Training/Experience:
Bachelors Degree and debate training and or experience required. Must be at least 21 years old with a valid drivers license and a clean driving record.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
Masters Degree. Two or more years collegiate level debate coach experience. Demonstrated experience with collegiate novice debaters.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
Able to work weekends as position travels with the debate team to tournament.



Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
Experience in state, regional or national level debate tournaments. Experience supervising practice debates and speeches. Debate skills professional development. Experience coordinating research assignments.
