Position Summary
Overall responsibilities are focused on the development and maintenance of an environment conducive to the academic, social and personal growth of residents, individually and collectively. Responsible for housing-related operations to include overseeing key aspects of furniture management, room assessments, proactive facility maintenance, vendor relations, and highest level of customer service. Supervises student employees supporting housing operations. Responsible for a variety of administrative responsibilities pertinent to the daily operation of their residential area. In all interactions and actions, maintains privacy and confidentiality of records. Responsible for following federal and state regulations as they relation to residential life and DSS functions, as well as University policies and procedures. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (per Clery reporting requirements). Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students. As a live-in position, responsibilities include evening, nighttime and weekend commitments on a regular basis throughout the academic year, including time reserved for preparatory training. In addition, the campus residency shall serve as their primary residence.

Hiring Range
$45,868 plus room and board

Key Responsibilities
Operational
  • Implements the storage, replacement, and deployment of furniture for housing facilities, ensuring that all units are adequately furnished and in good condition.
  • Coordinates logistics related to the movement and maintenance of furniture across housing locations. Manages furniture inventory database.
  • Assesses and manages Room Condition Reports (RCR) to ensure that rooms are properly documented at check-in and check-out.
  • Assists with damage billing procedures, ensuring that charges for damaged property are accurately assessed and communicated to residents.
  • Develops and implements health and safety training programs for staff to maintain a safe living environment. Ensures follow-up for and resolution for infractions.
  • Oversees temporary housing relocation process, including contacting students and assists with transitions and space readiness for re-occupying.
  • Assists Assistant Director of Operations with the opening and closing procedures for housing facilities, ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner, including inventory checks and key management.
  • Collaborates with Residential Life Support Specialists in transition from summer housing and conference programs to fall move-in
  • Partners with ARAMARK Facilities to resolve facilities related issues and identify building needs.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of strategies designed to minimize vandalism and damage. Provides information for damage assessment, as warranted, to the Assistant Director of Operations.
  • Assists, with StarRez (the online housing /roommate assignment process for current and incoming resident students) particularly with respect to publicity, educational initiatives and student assistance.
  • Completes weekly visual checks of the residence areas, especially throughout the summer months to help ensure the buildings are ready for academic year occupancy. Primary focus is to identify the critical needs involving housekeeping and maintenance/repairs.


Developmental
  • Coordinates training for Residence Directors and Resident Assistants to ensure accurate completion and implementation of health and safety inspections.
  • Creates educational materials for residents on housing processes including: selection, TMA submission (work orders) and key replacement.
  • Fosters a culture of excellent customer service, addressing concerns and enhancing resident satisfaction.
  • Assists with programs and events sponsored by the Office of Residential Life as a department.
  • Assists with departmental responsibilities for the new student summer orientation program and summer conferences, including staff supervision.
Supervision
  • Oversees and manages relationships with external vendors and contractors, ensuring all agreements and services meet the standards and timelines outlined in contracts.
  • Monitors vendor performance and resolve any issues related to service delivery.
  • Manages the check-in process for summer interns and other outside groups, ensuring their contracts, accommodations, and hospitality needs are addressed.
  • Supervises intern staff, year-round student employees, and provides guidance on housing-related matters to ensure a positive and productive experience.
  • Supervises and coordinates the student mover program, ensuring that furniture and personal items are moved efficiently during residence hall transitions.
  • Selects, hires, and trains student movers; ensures student staff adheres to safety and operational guidelines.
  • Participates fully in all staff development opportunities, including pre-service and in-service training sessions.
  • Assists with the Resident Assistant selection process. Participates in individual applicant interviews and facilitates group interviews. Participates in the rendering of decisions on appointments.
  • Assists with the professional staff selection processes, as appropriate.
  • Participates in duty rotation with other members of the Residential Life staff throughout the year. Available as a resource resident assistant, particularly for unusual or unforeseen circumstances occurring in the residential areas. Collaborates with personnel in public safety, Counseling and Psychological Services, and other campus partners to manage situations.

Completes other duties as assigned, including: actively participating in weekly Office of Residential Life meetings, preparing annual reports, and participating in official University events.
