Reporting to the Associate Dean of Finance & Administrative Operation, this is a key member of the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine (SOM) administration. The Facilities and Space Manager will work closely with Campus Planning & Operations (CPO), Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and Information Services & Technology (IST) to support SOMs facility-related needs and strategic goals. This role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day facility actions, partnering with CPO on space renovations and improvement projects, maintaining accurate space inventory and data, and analyzing facility usage to optimize efficiency and advancing the schools sustainability initiatives in alignment with University-wide goals. Additionally, on behalf of the Office of the Dean of Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, this position will serve as the SOM contact for all construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance projects. This role will also serve as the liaison for SOM with IST, EHS, and other University departments.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management or building operations, ideally with experience in an academic research or healthcare environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., IFMA, LEED, OSHA) are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, maintenance processes, and regulatory requirements within medical or research facilities.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and resource management is beneficial.
  • Previous experience as a liaison or point person for facilities-related needs is beneficial.
  • The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional who can think strategically and interact professionally to develop relationships with a diverse range of constituencies.
  • Excellent organizational and team leadership skills, strong customer service orientation, and ability to work effectively in an independent and interdependent setting.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines and to be able to work well in a complex organization.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to Boston University compliance policy, department guidelines/policies and all applicable laws and regulations at all times.
