Job Summary

The Center for Campus Wellness ( CCW ) is a comprehensive wellness office that provides wellness education, trainings and workshops; victim-survivor advocacy services and support; safer sex services for students; alcohol and other drug support services; wellness coaching; basic needs support; resource navigation; and student involvement opportunities.

This position will be committed to supporting the mission of the office by leading efforts to further develop, implement, and coordinate the Collegiate Recovery Program, Recovery at the U (RU). This position will assist in developing long and short-term goals, objectives, and strategic planning for the RU program. Approaching this position with a strong commitment to a student-centered, harm reductionist, strengths-based framework is integral for this role.

This position will actively work towards growing the RU community for students in recovery from alcohol and other drug use as well as prioritize campus-wide programming and education for harm reduction initiatives. This may include sober-centered events, educational workshops, support groups for members, and leadership opportunities for those in the RU community.

This position is a part of the CCW's Prevention and Education program team which is committed to taking a comprehensive and holistic approach to wellness promotion at the University of Utah. This team actively addresses collegiate wellness topics including but not limited to relationship and sexual violence, sexual wellness, mental wellness, alcohol and drug harm reduction, and more, using a primary and secondary prevention focus. This position will report directly to the Manager of Health Education Programs.

Applicants should be proficient in health education and promotion principles, best practices, and behavior change frameworks; have experience working with collegiate wellness initiatives; have experience with conducting needs assessments and other data collection strategies; and committed to a student-centered, harm-reduction, comprehensive approach to wellness education and promotion. Applicants should be committed to working with a diverse campus community whose experiences, backgrounds and perspectives may be different from their own.

As a larger CCW team, we prioritize our team's well-being and actively support each other in professional development efforts, engaging in self-care practices, and creating a positive and supportive team atmosphere that fosters growth. We operate with a hybrid work schedule which includes the possibility of 1-2 days for remote work pending job duties and approval from the direct supervisor. At various times of the year, remote working days may not be approved if on-campus priorities and programs require in-person attendance.

Responsibilities
30% Program development and delivery:

Support the CSW's mission and values by developing and implementing RU initiatives, programs, and services.
Recruit, welcome, and maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant recovery community centered in harm reduction.
Develop RU programs, events and experiences for students that support recovery and address the wellbeing of the whole person (e.g., social, emotional, mental, financial, physical, intellectual).
Support other efforts of the Prevention and Education team with wellness-related efforts that address harm reduction, mental health, violence prevention, and sexual wellness.

15% Service Delivery:

Assist with the facilitation of services including: confidential HIV/STI testing clinics and sexual wellness counseling program. Facilitate the distribution of barrier methods, emergency contraception, and pregnancy tests to students.
Provide Wellness Coaching and Harm Reduction Coaching to students. Provide Naloxone training to staff and students.
Facilitate SMART Recovery meetings.

15% Mentorship, training, and support of student staff:

Supervise and mentor RU student staff.
Serve as Advisor to RSOs that support students in recovery.

15% Partnerships and collaboration:

Assist students who are in relapse, seeking recovery and/or presenting with substance use/misuse concerns by connecting them to appropriate campus and/or community agencies.
Coordinate space for campus and/or community based mutual aid support and psychoeducational groups such as AA, NA, ACOA, ALANON, OA, CODA, refuge recovery, smart recovery and other groups requested by students.
Collaborate with campus and community departments and members to develop programs that improve retention and support students in recovery or who are seeking recovery

10% Program evaluation: Assess health education needs, trends and program impacts using appropriate assessment tools; including using primary and secondary data sources. 10% Training and professional development: Participate in mandatory on the job training and continuing education, including Naloxone training, B.A.S.I.C.S/Harm Reduction Coaching, Health & Wellness Coaching, and STI Risk Assessment/Counseling training. Understand and comply with confidentiality related policy and procedure (i.e., Utah Confidential Communications Act, FERPA). 5% Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for one year of related work experience) plus one year directly related experience . Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Work Schedule Summary: Monday-Friday 8-5 pm, some weekends or evenings. CCW operates with a Hybrid work schedule with the possibility to have 1-2 days remote dependent on job responsibilities, programming calendar, and other duties. This is at the discretion of the direct supervisor for any approval.
