Target Start Date:August 17, 2027 Application Deadline:October 1, 2026 (Applications accepted until lled or closed) Position Description The School of Information Systems & Technology at San Jos State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Information Systems position to begin August 2027. The successful candidate will be able to teach in our MIS curriculum which includes traditional core courses such as Systems Analysis & Design, Fundamentals of MIS, and Business Programming, as well as electives in emerging topics such as Data Analytics & Visualization and Articial Intelligence (AI). They will also be able to engage actively in research on IS-related topics, demonstrated by conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal publications, and will be expected to support the school, the college, and the university through service activities. SISTech resides in the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business at SJSU. We prepare students to excel professionally and contribute to society through the undergraduate MIS concentration within the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. A PhD in Management Information Systems, Information Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related eld, from an appropriately accredited institution
Applicant must be qualied as a scholarly academic (SA) according to AACSB standards
Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.

Preferred Qualications Priority will be given to candidates who possess one or more of the following:

Ability to teach a variety of traditional IS courses
Expertise in Python, R, Data Analytics / Visualization, Project Management or Articial Intelligence (AI)
Collegial, cooperative and collaborative work style
Strong teamwork, communication, interpersonal skills
Demonstrated record of teaching, research, and service excellence

Key Responsibilities

Maintain ongoing research activity providing valued contributions relevant to the IS academic community, including peer-reviewed journal papers and conference proceedings.
Deliver engaging, relevant, and timely learning experiences that contribute meaningfully to our students' professional readiness for high-impact careers in IS.
Participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments.
Organize classes within the university policy guidelines and use the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
Demonstrate awareness and experience in understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity -- in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation -- through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
