Job Summary
The Division of Pediatric Neurology in the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Physician Assistant. The Physician Assistant will be part of a specialized multidisciplinary team including attending physicians and residents in pediatric neurology, providing specialized neurological care including to infants, and children. This position encompasses care delivery across multiple settings including the Intermountain Primary Children's Hospital PICU, CICU and general medical floors and via telehealth consultation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate potential for or already established expertise in pediatric neurological assessment, family-centered communication, and evidence-based management of conditions including epilepsy, headache, neurovascular disorders and autoimmune neurological conditions.

The Division of Pediatric Neurology is based at the Primary Children's Hospital Outpatient Services building on the benches overlooking Salt Lake City. Job location is at the Intermountain Primary Children's Hospitals, University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics, located in Salt Lake City and Lehi, UT.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions

Participate in the growing telehealth neurology service, providing remote consultation and follow-up care to children across Intermountain Healthcare and affiliate NICUs.
Provide support to primary care providers seeking neurology to assist with management. Help triage phone consultation, relay recommendations and follow-up for phone consultations.
Review and integrate diagnostic studies including EEG, neuroimaging, and laboratory testing into clinical decision-making.
Coordinate care with general neurology teams and subspecialty autoimmune and neurovascular teams
Participate in follow-up planning.
Lead and contribute to quality improvement initiatives focused on Neurovascular and Neuroautoimmune outcomes, care standardization, and patient/family experience.
This position is structured primarily as approximately 50% telehealth-based neurology care, 20% outpatient clinic, and 30% inpatient consultation support.

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

Minimum Qualifications
Required:

Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant from the State of Utah.
Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Preferred:

Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
