Position Summary

Bunker Hill Community College is seeking a qualified and motivated Part-Time Course Facilitator to provide hands-on laboratory instruction for students enrolled in the Dental Assisting Program. The facilitator will work with students in a clinical laboratory environment, reinforcing classroom concepts while developing the practical skills, professionalism, infection-control practices, and clinical readiness required of entry-level dental assistants.

The laboratory facilitator will collaborate with the Dental Assisting Program Director and instructional team to ensure laboratory activities support established course objectives and prepare students for clinical practice and externship experiences.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide hands-on dental assisting laboratory instruction each Thursday from 6:00--8:30 PM.
• Demonstrate and supervise chairside dental assisting procedures and laboratory competencies.
• Teach proper operatory preparation, breakdown, and maintenance.
• Reinforce infection prevention, PPE, aseptic technique, instrument processing, disinfection, and sterilization procedures.
• Provide instruction in dental instruments, tray setup, four-handed dentistry, patient positioning, oral evacuation, dental materials, and other assigned clinical skills.
• Reinforce dental anatomy, tooth identification, charting, terminology, radiography concepts, and specialty procedures as appropriate to the curriculum.
• Evaluate student laboratory performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate attendance, competency, and student-performance documentation.
• Promote OSHA, CDC, HIPAA, and applicable Massachusetts dental safety and professional standards.
• Maintain a professional, inclusive, organized, and safe learning environment.
• Communicate student concerns, progress, and remediation needs to the Program Director.
• Assist with laboratory setup, inventory, equipment care, and preparation of instructional materials.
• Participate in program meetings, curriculum review, assessment, and accreditation-related activities when requested.

Required Qualifications:

• Documented professional dental experience.
• MA State DA License & BLS CPR

Preferred Qualifications:

• Candidates should have professional experience in dental assisting or clinical dentistry and demonstrate strong knowledge of contemporary dental assisting procedures and infection-control practices. CDA, EFDA, Massachusetts dental assisting credentials, dental hygiene licensure, or dental licensure, as applicable to the candidate's professional background, are preferred.
• Teaching, clinical training, mentoring, or supervisory experience is highly desirable. Candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills and demonstrate the ability to teach clinical procedures safely and effectively to students with varying levels of experience.

The successful candidate will play an important role in helping students translate classroom education into safe, confident, real-world dental assisting skills.
