Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Senior Community Director (SCD) is a full-time, live-in professional position responsible for the daily operation of a co-ed residential community housing primarily traditional-aged college students from significantly diverse backgrounds. The incumbent's main purpose is to promote student success through a variety of activities. The Senior Community Director will lead no more than 2 Community Directors and up to 24 Resident Advisor staff, and, in some cases, other student staff members; advise groups and individuals; hold conduct meetings with students; and serve on-call, among other duties.
- Implements and oversees educational framework for the area of responsibility, shaped by ideals of academic wellness with a holistic approach, social justice including oppression reduction and service learning, urban campus culture, individual development of and contact with students, all guided by learning outcomes and assessment.
- Executes and maintains all record-keeping functions as outlined by the Office of Student Housing, including but not limited to: student billing, assignment changes, student discipline, developmental education, apartment condition reports, fire/health/safety inspections, semester reports, purchasing, and maintenance records
- Serves as a conduct officer in the Office of Student Housing conduct process.
- Intervenes in, mediates, and monitor roommate conflicts.
- Participates equally in the 24-hour on-call rotation providing crisis and emergency response services to resident students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Equivalent to two years of experience coordinating or directing college-level group activities including one year directing a dormitory complex which has provided a wide exposure to student group problems.
- One year of job-related non-paid experience may be substituted for the one year of general experience required. Master's degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, or a job-related field is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of student leadership development, staff training practices, residential education, academic wellness, social justice, service learning, student engagement, learning outcomes, and assessment principles within a diverse residential community.
- Ability to identify and develop student potential; assess personal, social, and leadership skills; advise residential student organizations; facilitate educational programs and Living Learning Community initiatives; and foster student growth through holistic, inclusive, and outcome-driven engagement.
- Knowledge of residential housing administration, student conduct processes, record-keeping practices, assignment and occupancy procedures, check-in and check-out processes, emergency response protocols, conflict mediation, counseling referrals, and applicable housing software systems.
- Ability to maintain accurate records; utilize Microsoft Office Suite, PeopleSoft, StarRez, email, and related applications; facilitate housing processes; build collaborative relationships; mediate roommate conflicts; provide appropriate advisement and referrals; participate in training and meetings; coordinate special projects; and respond effectively to student emergencies.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

- Classification: 9687 / Head Resident II / 1
- The anticipated HIRING RANGE is $3816 - $4561 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $3816 - $5559 per month.
- Additional Compensation: Housing and utilities included.
- Interview Format: Second-round interviews will be conducted on campus and in person.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.
- This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined.
- The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
