(Primary Location for Job Responsibilities) Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Department Information
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides a wide range of counseling and clinical services to student-athletes, including initial
consultations, diagnostic and treatment formulation, crisis intervention, and short-term individual
and group counseling.
2. Provides outreach and consultation to the campus community and Athletics Department.
3. Advocates in campus and community systems to reduce barriers that impede student success.
4. Develops and deliver psychoeducational programs that support prevention and education for
the campus community and student-athletes.
5. Manages treatment needs, makes treatment recommendations, coordinates care, and makes
specialized case referrals.
6. Maintains knowledge of on and off-campus resources.
7. Provide mental health screenings for student-athletes.
8. Assists with referrals from Athletics to Counseling and Psychological Services.
Job Summary
Provides comprehensive mental health services to the KSU Community through assessment, treatment, crisis intervention, consultation, outreach, and psychoeducational programming. Collaborates with multidisciplinary partners to promote student well-being and support the university's mission of student success.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides direct clinical services to university students under clinical supervision in accordance with Georgia Composite Board requirements
2. Provides crisis intervention services and participates in after-hours emergency on-call coverage, consistent with licensure, training, departmental protocols, federal and/or state rules and regulations
3. Provides outreach, consultation, and psychoeducational programming to the campus community
4. Participates in required individual and group clinical supervision and actively pursues independent licensure in accordance with Georgia Composite Board requirements
5. Utilizes and maintains the electronic health record in accordance with departmental, legal, ethical, and professional standards
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in counseling, psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy.
Other Required Qualifications
Must possess a current, valid, and unrestricted associate professional license (LAPC, LMSW, LMFT, or equivalent) issued by the Georgia Composite Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage & Family Therapists.
Recent graduates who are licensure-eligible may be hired but must obtain the required associate license within four (4) months of employment. Must maintain eligibility to practice under Board-approved clinical supervision and comply with all applicable Georgia Composite Board requirements.
Individuals licensed in another state must obtain the applicable Georgia license within four (4) months of employment as a condition of continued employment.
Independent professional licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent) must be obtained within three (3) years of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Required Experience
A minimum of 750 hours of previous internship providing counseling services.

An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Two (2) years of related clinical experience
Experience with electronic health record systems
Experience providing mental health services to a variety of individuals and groups
Experience with mental health issues in institutions of higher education

Able to establish therapeutic rapport and maintain effective working relationships with students, colleagues, campus partners, and external constituents.
Able to exercise independent clinical judgment and manage complex clinical situations within the scope of professional licensure
Successful collaboration with the treatment team and external partners
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one-time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of individual, group, and couples counseling techniques for college students and young adults presenting with concerns across the continuum of mental health
Knowledge of professional, national, and state ethical guidelines
Familiarity with short-term models of treatment
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite, Electronic Medical Record systems)
Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
