Academic Success Coach (2 Positions)


Nature of Work:
Success coaches will monitor and track the progress of TRiO SSS participants and develop a working relationship with relevant campus resources. Additionally, the Academic Success Coach will engage in data collection, data entry, and student development/contact.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in education or related field. One year of experience in one or more of the following areas: mentoring, tutoring, academic coaching, academic advising, counseling, or teaching. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality. Strong interpersonal/human relation skills. Ability to relate effectively with participants, institutional personnel, and general public. Ability to identify participants need for support services in order to make appropriate referrals. Available to work some nights and weekends. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in higher education or related field. Prior experience working in TRiO Student Support Services or similar projects for low-income, first generation, STEM, veterans, ESL, or disabled students. Evidence of commitment to supporting the needs of students from underrepresented populations. Familiar with Banner and/or Blumen software.

Essential Duties:
Work one-on-one with participants to identify barriers to academic success. Assess participants academic needs and plan, implement, and monitor progress towards participants long-range academic goals for graduation. Assist participants in researching graduate schools, career/majors of interest and university resources. Attend training workshops/seminars. Maintain participant database, records, and files. Become familiar with academic policies, procedures and university resources. Assist Retention Specialist with supporting participant success and retention initiatives. Other duties deemed necessary and assigned by the Director.

Salary: 15.00/hr.
