Requirements: A Doctoral degree or ABD is required. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of teaching experience in higher education, specifically within the domains of Human Resource Management, Business Management, Organizational Leadership, or other disciplines closely aligned with the College of Business's academic offerings. At least three years of human resource management experience is required. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is highly preferred. Must have excellent customer service skills. Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and have the ability to work independently, but also as a team member. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS, and PowerPoint. Candidate must have a working knowledge of SharePoint, SmartCatalog, Website, Social Media, LMS/Canvas – Basic/HOT/Cyber, Synchronous online teaching tools (i.e. Zoom), student data systems/platforms such as Recruit CRM, Advise CRM, Perceptive Content/Banner, Document Management. The ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in any situation is required. Must demonstrate respect for diversity in the workplace and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to ensure academic excellence for students.

  • Provide leadership to academic program chairs, faculty, and administrative staff.

  • Oversee the development and management of programs and course offerings to ensure relevancy of course materials, consistency in academic learning, use of technology to enhance student learning, teaching strategies to stay relevant with field of study and industry standards, practical awareness of research trends and innovations, program outcomes are consistent with accreditation and program review requirements.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to program chairs to manage student issues, report student concerns, and ensure academic/grade appeals are submitted expeditiously. The Academic Director will also serve as the Program Chair for the Human Resource Management Programs (undergraduate and graduate programs).

  • Provide supervision to ensure compliance with Faculty and Student Handbooks. Provide guidance and supervision to administrative staff to ensure timely assistance and services to students. 

  • Maintain an active presence at University events such as the Conference for Teaching Excellence, establish and enhance academic and professional networks, participate in activities that provide opportunities to share, collaborate, and network with practitioners, serve on College/University standing committees, participate and contribute to the work of the Faculty Senate, support University functions such as homecoming, athletic events, fundraisers, Open House programs, new student orientations, and graduate fairs. Serve as a representative for COB at community events, networking sessions, and conferences. 

  • Complete all levels of PIE Program, maintain all accrelearning andirements, attend events/conferences associated with a field of study/program area, enhance the network of professionals, maintain, and enhance skillsets associated with course delivery and student learning, and show a commitment to professional growth and exploration.

  • Serve as a committee member of IACBE accreditation processes.

  • Serve on DBA dissertation committees and provide guidance and assistance to the DBA program.

  • Promote and foster an inclusive and diverse environment for all students, faculty, and staff.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the college/University's leadership.


Hours of Employment: Generally, Monday – Friday between the hours of 10:00 am – 6:00 p.m. Evening hours as needed for course load. Occasional weekends as needed for special events. The candidate must be flexible to meet the needs of the College and/or University. Required to attend all Graduation ceremonies, Sigma Beta Delta Honors Society events, Doctoral recognition events, College meetings, Faculty Senate meetings and sub-committee meetings, and Professional Development Day events.
