Accountant II

JOB TITLE: Accountant II

REPORTS TO: Director of Accounting/External Reporting

DEPARTMENT: Finance & Accounting

LOCATION: Main Campus

RATE OF PAY: $41,360.00 - $51,700.00 annual salary depending on experience

POSITION SUMMARY
The overall purpose of this position is to assist with preparing accounting records for the college and to assist departments with accounting related functions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Posts JV/Fuploads/budget loads for departments and voids checks as directed;
Reviews ledger accounts for discrepancies and adjusts as necessary;
Reconciles monthly bank statements for the College's Foundation;
Evaluates posted transactions for accuracy;
Prepares invoices;
Maintains financial statement files, including compiling, revising and scanning files for audit;
Processes, packages and prints financial statements;
Maintains financial schedule files
Performs adjusting entries to true up/zero out' accounts;
Reconciles expense/revenue accounts
Researches accounting discrepancies for departments and serves as a resource for departments concerning organizational expenditures;
Processes, sorts and mails checks;
Oversees utility payments for the College;
Compiles and prepares various reports as needed;
Processes vendor invoice for accounts payable, processes mail and reviews departmental scans as needed
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's degree in accounting or finance or six (6) years of accounting or finance experience
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application, as well as an understanding of applicable Federal and State laws.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Advanced ability to analyze, summarize and present data clearly to various constituencies
Advanced critical thinking skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Intermediate computer skills
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, coworkers, federal and state agencies and member of the general public

WORK HOURS

37.5 hours per week
