Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for an Accountant Technician 1 for the Payroll Office. Duties include preparing faculty employee information for payroll processing, completes wage and employment verification requests, issues payments to clear liability accounts for retirement, rent, computer loans and campus foundations. Position also produces manual checks and refunds, corrects over-payments and makes adjustments as required; processes faculty retirement payments, reporting to vendors and reconciliation of the retirement accounts; processes direct deposit reports, recalls and payments; and general duties as assigned.
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organization needs.

Required Qualifications.
Graduation from high school supplemented by 6 college credits in beginning accounting and two years of financial records maintenance experience which includes such duties as controlling accounts payable/receivable; preparing financial reports for internal management use; and reconciling complex accounts; OR two years of experience as an Accounting Assistant III in Nevada State service which includes 6 college credits in beginning accounting; OR one year as an Accounting Assistant IV in Nevada State service which includes 6 college credits in beginning accounting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above which must have included 6 college credits in beginning accounting.

This position requires experience processing payroll, using Microsoft Word in a business setting, using Microsoft Excel in a business setting, proficiency with Ten Key by Touch (A skills test will be administer upon interview).

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with experience working in a higher education environment are encouraged to apply.

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organization needs.
