Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno, School of Medicine, is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant for the Office of Medical Research (OMR). This position collaborates with the Director, Research and Business Operations in support of medical student research by building a network of mentors, coordinating and tracking student progress, and planning training workshops and networking events. This individual maintains the medical student research database, ensuring the information is up to date. This individual will manage travel arrangements, purchasing, purchasing cards, assist in budget preparation and budget revisions, schedule meetings, and compose and format documents, reports and charts in support of the program. Additionally, this individual provides general clerical support to the Office of Medical Research by coordinating and scheduling meeting s for OMR as well as maintaining the calendar for the Sr. Associate Dean for Research.

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, effective problem-solving and multi-taking skills, and data management skills.

Required Qualification
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position requires experience working in a higher education environment.
This position requires experience using Microsoft Word and Excel in a business setting.
This position requires experience with accounts and budgeting.
This position require experience with data management.

Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
