The College of DuPage is a comprehensive community college located 27 miles west of downtown Chicago, vitally connected to our local area for over 50 years. College of DuPage seeks a full-time, tenure track faculty member to provide Advisor (FT), PF3EADVSRCAS. Positions available beginning June 3, 2024 pending hiring process completion.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The advising faculty will be part of an exemplary dynamic and collaborative environment centered in student success. The faculty will assist students in developing and progressing through their academic, educational, transfer and career plan and reaching key milestones that lead toward credential completion and graduation using a case-load management structure where students feel informed and connected. Advising faculty will have responsibilities for assisting students with establishing a foundational understanding of academic course sequences, degree, certificates, program requirements, and career expectations. They will work with students, utilizing a variety of methods: academic planning, program development and check-in appointments, group meetings, online communication, consulting and referring students to instructional faculty or counselors when necessary. Format of the interactions will vary depending on the work setting, administrative needs, the specific student situation, and the faculty member's case load.
Qualifications:
- Education
- Bachelors degree required. Masters degree preferred.
- Experience
- Minimum three (3) years of advising in a higher education setting. Experience in community colleges and understanding of transfer advising preferred
