Position Announcement

The faculty of the Department of Health Sciences at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for a Tenure-Track position in Environmental Health – Disaster Management within the Department of Health Sciences at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Responsibilities
Excellence in teaching, scholarly publications, service to the university and community, student advisement and recruitment, program and curriculum development, and other responsibilities consistent with the mission of the University and the requirements of the Department and College are expected. Teaching duties may consist of day, evening, weekend, and/or online classes in both the current undergraduate and planned graduate programs. Teaching areas include but are not limited to environmental health, epidemiology, public health, statistics, disaster management and preparedness, strategic planning, and public health policy, law and ethics. Additional duties may include internship development, placement, and oversight.

Department of Health Sciences
The Department has nearly 700 majors and is housed within the College of Health, Human Services and Nursing. This dynamic and rapidly growing program offers a B.S. degree in health Science with concentrations in community health, healthcare management and radiologic technology. A master's degree programs currently under development for implementation within the next few years.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate in public health with a focus on environmental health, or in environmental science with an MPH in environmental health; current or recent experience in environmental health – disaster management; experience teaching undergraduate students from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, and working with diverse populations; scholarly publications commensurate with experience; program and curriculum development experience; evidence of a strong commitment to student success. If doctorate is in progress, it must be completed before the start date of employment.

Preferred Qualifications
REHS certification; record of published research and funded projects; experience with program accreditation; involvement in discipline related issues at local, national and/or international levels; established relationships with community-based organizations and health agencies; mentorship of students engaged in research and certification.
