Department Summary

The University of North Texas Career Center is the centralized career office responsible for empowering all students and alumni to identify and achieve individual goals for career success. Reporting to the Division of Student Affairs, The UNT Career Center is located on the Denton, TX Campus in Sage Hall. Through collaboration with campus, local and global partnerships, our mission is to design and deliver high-quality career services to UNT students and alumni.

Position Overview

The Assistant Director of Career Services is responsible for executing all Career Center hosted events (career fairs, networking events, etc.). This position oversees the execution of all events and, through supervision of the Scheduling and Events Coordinator, all interview suite activity throughout the year. The employee is also responsible for maintaining campus partnerships with event venues and departments in order to carry out events successfully.

  • Manage all employer services and their on-campus (and sometimes virtual) experience.

  • Manage and execute employer-related Career Center events.

  • Assess and report out employer engagement/satisfaction numbers to Associate, Senior Associate and Director as requested and necessary.

  • Supervise Scheduling and Events Coordinator, student assistants, and co-supervise Graduate Assistant.

  • Work collaboratively with Associate Director and other team members to plan events for upcoming year based on campus changes and campus partners.

  • Oversee job postings and employer accounts in Handshake. This is often done through supervision of student assistants in making sure tasks are appropriately completed.

  • Help Employer Team effectively work with Career Education Team, Internship Team, etc. to make sure attendance is sufficient and that we are successfully carrying out events via our partnerships.

  • Help strategize virtual platforms we are trying to promote like Mean Green Mentors, Parker Dewey, etc.




Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Master's Degree in related field and at least one year of professional/ related experience.

* Event planning, attention to detail and excellent customer service experience.

* Experience creating, tracking and reporting assessment data.

* Supervision of full-time staff is a plus.

* Ability to comfortably interact with corporate executives.

* Ability to easily run reports and troubleshoot technical issues with Handshake.

* Understanding of employment law.

* Thorough knowledge of Excel.
