Worcester Polytechnic Institute's (WPI) Mechanical Engineering Department has a tenure-track faculty position available at the assistant professor level. Research areas of interest include smart-systems, autonomous vehicles, design with emphasis on human interface, haptics, medical device design, holographic human interfacing, and/or smart product design are encouraged to apply. The candidate will be expected to develop an externally funded research program and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering. Candidate is required to have a PhD or equivalent degree in mechanical engineering or a relevant discipline. The Mechanical Engineering Department at WPI (http://www.wpi.edu/academics/me/) has 39 full-time faculty members and offers undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering to over 1000 students. The department offers graduate degrees in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials science and engineering, and manufacturing engineering to over 300 graduate students. The department's externally sponsored research expenditures have been consistently exceeded $10M a year.
