Description:
The Department of Art at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position in Sculpture beginning August 1, 2018.

The ideal candidate's research and pedagogy will be informed by a broad knowledge of sculpture's traditions, proficiency with a variety of sculpture materials and methods, and familiarity with sculpture's expansive contemporary practice. Engagement with critical issues related to the discipline is assumed, as is a conception of sculpture that allows for interdisciplinary approaches. The candidate will be expected to participate in advising and service to the institution, and will assume a leadership role in guiding and developing the Sculpture degree program.

The Art Department at UTC has 14 full-time faculty, six part-time faculty, and approximately 250 majors pursuing BA degrees in Studio Art, Art Education, and Art History, as well as BFA degrees in Graphic Design, Painting and Drawing, Photography and Media Art, and Sculpture in NASAD accredited program. The sculpture studios are managed by a full-time lab technician who works with the tenure-track line in support of the program.

Qualifications:
Successful candidates will possess the following requirements:
MFA in sculpture or closely related field
teaching experience at the Graduate Assistant-level (instructor of record) or beyond
demonstrated record of creative achievement, teaching effectiveness, and ability to collaborate as a member of a team
willingness to engage in assisting the UTC campus in its ability to reach additional goals as specified in UTC's Strategic Plan, including the institution's ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion
