Business and Entrepreneurship Librarian

About the Opportunity

Reporting the Library Program Manager for Entrepreneurship, the Business and Entrepreneurship Librarian serves as the liaison to the D'Amore-McKim School of Business and helps coordinate the library's interdisciplinary efforts to integrate services and resources into all entrepreneurship initiatives across campus. The Business and Entrepreneurship Librarian provides teaching, learning, and research support through virtual and in-person instructional sessions, consultations, and workshops.

Additionally, the Entrepreneurship Librarian will collaborate to support entrepreneurship initiatives in the Bouve College of Health Science, the College of Engineering, the College of Computer and Information Science, and the College of Science. Strong service orientation and understanding of user needs. Must be willing to experiment, learn, adapt, and iterate.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • BA or BS degree
  • Experience or demonstrated interest working with Entrepreneurship or related Business fields in an academic setting
  • Knowledge of business or entrepreneurial resources, methodologies, research trends and pedagogical approaches related to business and entrepreneurship
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and organizational skills, including strong time-management skills.


Preferred Qualifications
  • ALA-accredited master's degree in library/information science attained or in process of completion, or advanced degree in education/teaching or business-related field
  • Previous teaching or public speaking experience
  • Strong skills in community outreach, networking and building relationships


Job Duties

50% Subject Librarian / Liaison - Liaise to the D'Amore-McKim School of Business serving as a key resource for their faculty, students, and research staff in order to advance the library's integration into teaching, learning, and scholarship activities.

Teaching, Learning, and Research Support
  • Collaborate with faculty to design and deliver course-based workshops on information literacy
  • Provide open workshops on citation tools, discovery tools, and other knowledge areas/tools supporting the curriculum
  • Partner with liaisons to develop online learning objects, research guides, and other web resources
  • Provide online and in-person research support such as scheduled consultations, walk-in research help, classroom instruction, or virtual assistance.
  • Partner with staff across the library to support research data management, scholarly publishing, repository services, as well as emerging researcher resources and tools.


Outreach
  • Maintain frequent, ongoing communication with faculty and researchers in assigned disciplines to actively support teaching, research and promote library services and initiatives.
  • Attend in-person and virtual campus events


Collection Development
  • Evaluate and select materials in assigned disciplines appropriate to meet the needs of the university. Recommend budget levels and expend allotted budgets. Evaluate collections to meet program, accreditation, and grant activities.


25% Entrepreneurship Support - Provides specialized, interdisciplinary support to entrepreneurship activities across the Northeastern University community in order to incorporate library resources and services into this strategic initiative.
  • Build relationships, monitors trends, and develops an interdisciplinary program that supports the evolving needs of entrepreneurship curricula and programs
  • Serve as a subject matter expert within the library, collaborating with liaisons on critical elements to facilitate engagement around entrepreneurship
  • Support collection development efforts in entrepreneurship as needed


15% Northeastern University Community Service - Be an active member of the Northeastern University community by participating, contributing, or volunteering on university or library committees, teams, working groups, projects, or initiatives that further the mission of the university.

10% Professional Development - Keep abreast of developments and trends in academic librarianship, business, entrepreneurship and higher education in general. Participate in Library, University, and/or other organizations, forums and conferences as appropriate.
