The University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine (Penn Vet), Department of Clinical Sciences and Advanced Medicine (CSAM), invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Small Animal Behavior in the Academic Clinician (AC) track.

Candidates must have a DVM/VMD or equivalent degree, have completed a residency in Small Animal Behavior, and be board-certified in the American College of Veterinary Behavior or European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioural Medicine, Behaviour subspecialty. Previous experience teaching in an academic teaching hospital is desirable. Applications will be accepted immediately and reviewed until May 24, 2024. Academic Clinicians (AC) are members of the Associated Faculty and devote their efforts primarily to clinical care and patient-side teaching, and perform a minimum of 42 weeks of clinical service per year in the Matthew J Ryan Veterinary Hospital. The Penn Vet Behavior Service consists of a senior behavior faculty member, a dedicated nurse, and 1 resident. The successful candidate will contribute to the didactic, laboratory and clinical teaching of veterinary medical students and interns, participation in patient care, supervision and training of residents, and continuing education for veterinarians and related stakeholders. Outside of the clinic, the remaining portion of the faculty effort is dedicated to scholarly activities such as teaching, administrative duties, and departmental committee responsibilities. The successful candidate will also contribute to the Penn Vet Animal Welfare and Behavior post-graduate program, which offers a certificate and Master of Science degree. Contributions to this program typically include didactic and small group teaching and mentoring of graduate students.
