Position Summary:
The Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho invites applications for a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor of Composition, a full-time appointment beginning August 2024. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate studio composition as well as courses in musical analysis, counterpoint, orchestration, and electronic music. Other courses may be determined by applicants qualifications and/or departmental needs. The successful candidate will actively recruit and retain students, participate in School of Music committees and events and mentor students.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in music;
- Experience teaching composition;
- Experience with composing at the professional level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in music;
- Record of success teaching composition at the collegiate level;
- Experience with music technology and/or audio software;
- Ability to teach other courses depending on the needs of the department and the applicants qualifications;
- Strong communication/interpersonal skills with a flexible attitude and ability to work collaboratively.
