Job Description:

Madison College is pleased to announce the position of Compensation Consultant. This position is an integral part of our human resources team supporting the mission of our award-winning college. This position provides professional level human resources expertise and support in the areas of compensation policies and practices, job evaluation, labor costing, fringe benefits and cost/benefit analysis of new and existing College pay programs. Maintains policies and procedural documents for all compensation and job evaluation practices and leads projects and initiatives related to departmental work for annual pay, compensation models, salary surveys, collective bargaining, and market reviews.

This is a full-time, exempt salary, 52 weeks per year position. Core hours are Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Currently, this position has the option to perform work remotely two days a week. This is subject to change per Madison College policy.

Madison College provides a generous benefits package of vacation, holidays, health/vision/dental/life insurance options, and you will be able to participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). Newly hired staff serve a one-year introductory period.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Serves as the partner and subject matter expert on all matters related to compensation and pay at Madison College. Works with the Human Resources Business Partners and college leaders to educate, train and inform various employee groups about pay programs and practices. Consults with employees and managers to answer questions, develops communications, provides content updates for various handbooks, and participates in projects impacting pay programs, structures or other related areas.
  • Analyzes, designs, and administers compensation programs including Staff Compensation, Full time Faculty Compensation, Part time Faculty pay structures and Management pay decisions that support the college's objectives for recruiting, retention, and employee engagement. Supports data needs for any collective bargaining discussions between union leadership and management and performs modeling and analysis on proposed pay options.
  • Applies job analysis methodologies and evaluates job requirements and responsibilities to determine appropriate internal alignment and salary/grade level to ensure positions remain competitive in the areas of salaries and benefits. Delivers guidance on titling options and creates/maintains all documentation related to structures, processes, policies, and guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate data related to employee pay and related evaluation information to ensure the integrity of information stored in Workday or other software systems. Maintains salary structures, salary grades and job-related information to be used for salary survey submissions, reporting and analysis.
  • Participates in compensation surveys, conducts research and analysis on market competitiveness, pay equity and compensation trends.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of HR principles and practices, especially in classification, job evaluation and compensation administration. Experience with complex compensation analysis and techniques including compliance with state and federal laws that apply to plans.
  • Ability to work confidentially with employee information and interpret complex data on demographics, trends, and the labor market.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with Workday or other ERP/HRIS system is preferred.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal, communication, presentation, decision making and planning skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with HR, labor representatives, internal colleagues, management, and other business partners.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance, human resources, business, or related field.

*Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position.

AND

Five to seven years' experience with analytical processes within Human Resources with knowledge of Compensation programs.

Human Resources or Compensation certifications preferred.
