Position Summary
The Director of Student Life and Community Relations is responsible for working with students and the community at large providing overall strategic leadership, program development, and day-to-day management of student life, including overseeing student clubs/organizations, safety/emergency, and disciplinary systems in cooperation with other departments and the Associate Principal and Principal/CEO. The Director of Student Life and Community Relations is responsible for planning, researching, organizing and implementing communications and community relations programs for the school, creating partnerships that bring community members into the academic and holistic vision of the school.

Description of Job Duties
-Develop and manage a visionary program that consists of relevant, meaningful and rigorous learning experiences for the students/community;
-Evolve and manage safety, emergency management;
-Lead and manage extracurricular activities that focus on mission, leadership development, learning, and personal growth;
-Work with administration team and other departments to ensure programmatic integration;
-Develop and manage a disciplinary program that is restorative for both student and community;
-Represent the school publicly and assist the admissions process as needed;
-Liaison with local police, fire and other emergency and safety services;
-Manage student life budget in a fiscally responsible manner;
-Serve and collaborate with the administrative team;
-Work closely with the administrative team to plan and provide faculty training, professional development, support, and challenge;
-Support other school activities through planning, participation, and supervision;
-Articulate the schools mission and goals in the area of public information to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission;
-Supports the organizations mission, vision, and values by facilitating projects related to a commitment to community relations and inclusion of the community in the academic programs;
-Create and maintain a positive relationship with the school community;
-Create and sustain partnerships with local community businesses including, surveying local markets, picking business partners, communicating mutual goals, training staff, developing a student selection process, maintaining relationships, and completing program assessments;
-Coordinate community-based activities and communication plans with school staff to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of standards, policies, and protocol;
-Create and implement events and educational activities which increase the visibility of the school within the community;
-Act as a liaison with various government entities, non-profit agencies, churches, and civic organizations;
-Direct the production of the school calendar;
-Ensure that special events and programs are cost-effective and funds are managed prudently;
-Compile budgets and cost estimates based upon documented program needs;
-Assist school personnel in publicizing and promoting and performances, exhibitions, displays, or special programs sponsored by the schools;
-Serve as a representative for the organization at community meeting and forums;
-Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal/CEO.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
-Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
-Demonstrated skills in writing, editing, and public speaking;
-Thorough knowledge of educational operations and public relations functions;
-Excellent planning, organizations, program development and leadership abilities;
-Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
-Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
Bachelors degree in business, education, or communication

Required Work Experience
Five (5) years of experience in secondary education

Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree
