POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides the highest quality of customer service, dissemination of accurate and timely information, and financial aid related services to students, parents, faculty, and staff. This position provides services to financial aid applicants, including financial aid advising, and reviewing and verifying of files for the accuracy needed for packaging and awarding various forms of financial assistance; specifically, work-study awards. This position, plans, organizes, and manages the work-study program for the College.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all general federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures related to financial aid.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all walk-in traffic requesting financial aid information as it pertains to work-study/student employment.
  • Assist daily front counter operations, procedures, and coverage.
  • Advise current and prospective students and their families on general and specific financial aid information and resources, as well as questioning and assessing the needs of students and discussing options for funding, and clarifying policies and procedures by counseling in-person, on telephone, over email, and virtually either via Zoom or by appointment through Navigate.
  • Resolve financial aid student issues by analyzing financial data, consulting with other staff in the Financial Aid Office, and other agencies, and counseling the student.
  • Process, approve, and initiate the authorization of all student employment on campus.
  • Monitor work-study funds by running financial aid reports and verification against expenditures as provided by Payroll. Reduce award amounts as needed and notify Payroll of changes.
  • Coordinate with the Fiscal Affairs office to reconcile monthly work-study funds and allocations.
  • Stay current on federal, state, and institutional guidelines to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain a work-study section within D2L of the MyCCA portal; managing student employee supervisor information & tools to assist current supervisors.
  • Maintain the work-study section of NeoEd; manage job vacancies and information on how students can locate and acquire employment.
  • Provide proper work authorization and hourly pay rates to Payroll.
  • Determine eligibility and authorize awards from federal, state, institutional, and private programs in compliance with all rules, regulations, and guidelines. Utilize existing funds to maximize the number of students receiving assistance.
  • Provide information, advice, and counseling to individuals and groups, including prospective and current students, parents, faculty, staff, and other professionals in the financial aid community about available programs, application procedures, eligibility requirements, and student rights and responsibilities.
  • Revise awards as individual circumstances change.
  • Assist in other areas of the Financial Aid office as assigned.




MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution OR relevant work experience on a year for year basis.
  • One year of financial aid work experience in higher education.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Customer Service experience.
  • Sound management skills and effective decision-making.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree in education, counseling, accounting, finance, or management.
  • Three years of work experience in a financial aid office in higher education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Collaborative management and student training experience
  • Commitment to customer service, higher education, and working with students.
  • Knowledge of federal financial aid policies and programs.
  • Working knowledge or familiarity with the Banner student system.
  • Working knowledge of the National Student Loan Data System.
  • Working knowledge of Common Origination and Disbursement System.
  • Working knowledge of financial aid operations with the electronic data exchange process.





SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range: $50,215.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
