SUMMARY:

The Financial Analyst II, under general direction, develops financial models, develops and maintains statistical models, and prepares projections, analyzes variances, and reports findings. Prepares reports and financial presentations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducts monthly reviews of revenues and deposits. Reviews and monitors billings and contract receivables.
  • Prepares financial analysis of RFPs.
  • Assists with coordinating efforts to review and assess common audit findings and improve internal controls, as needed. Utilizes audit software to identify anomalies and high risk transactions.
  • Coordinates with the Office of Institutional Research on state reporting to provide detailed review and analysis.
  • Reviews service department accounts and coordinates annual analysis of billing rates to determine if rates are reasonable and in compliance.
  • Prepares special projects and financial analyses for the Vice President, including monthly KPI reporting and analysis.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements for university auxiliary operations in accordance with System Regulation 21.01.01, to serve as a reference for executive and financial officers.
  • Provides support for customer service initiatives including updates to website and coordinating communication efforts to provide timely updates and intuitive resources to assist departments with administrative functions.
  • Develops and maintains statistical models to perform revenue and expense forecasting. Develops financial models, researches and analyzes data to support strategic and programmatic goals.
  • Assists with preparation of university Annual Financial Report, including accounts receivable entries, and other schedules as necessary. Assists with Legislative Appropriations Request.
  • Assists with reconciliations and analysis and aid in clearing outstanding items.
  • Provides support for the financial activity of P3 projects, including assisting with the financial audit and compliance with management agreement.
  • Maintains Business Object templates and reports.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Three years of related experience. Proficiency with computer applications including spreadsheets, database and word-processing software. Knowledge of financial systems. Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to: Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Analytical and organizational skills. Ability to work with large data sets.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

CPA and/or Master's degree in Business or Accounting preferred. Prior work experience in higher education. Experience with GASB and FASB financial statements. QuickBooks experience preferred.
