Instruction and Classroom Support Technician 1 - Transitional Studies & NACTEP (Part TIme)

Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Transitional Studies division is home to the High School+ program, High School Completion, GED, Youth Re-Engagement, and English Language Acquisition (ESL) programs. Along with our pre-college programs, we offer a wide range of support that will help to get students closer to a college degree.

Native American Career and Technical Education Program (NACTEP) is a grant that partners EvCC and Tulalip Tribes to provide coursework resulting in industry-recognized certificates and stackable college certificates leading to two and four-year degrees in Information Technology.

This is a temporary, grant funded position with expected duration through June 20, 2020. Continuation beyond that date is dependent upon renewed or continued funding.

Typical duties:
  • Assist students with intake and answer questions in the Transitional Studies Division office, Casino Road, Tulalip Tribes, and other off site locations as needed
  • Assist instructors with the CASAS test, the online skills assessment for Transitional Studies students
  • Proctor CASAS (Intake Test) at various campus locations
  • Provide front desk coverage in the afternoon and evening as needed
  • Assist Information Technology (IT) instructors in the classroom at the Tulalip Higher Education campus through the NACTEP grant
  • Maintain student intake and assessment records
  • Assist with Post Testing
  • Assist with the proctoring of Faculty Evaluation
  • Participate in Transitional Studies and NACTEP projects, duties, and grant requirements as needed

    Minimum Qualifications:
    High School Diploma, GED, or higher qualification
    Ability to give online assessments, including a mastery of Windows programs, and an ability to troubleshoot basic computer issues with minimal oversight
    Strong customer service skills
    Experience working with diverse populations
    Ability to work a flexible schedule to assist with testing during evening hours
    Valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle for travel between main campus and offsite locations

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Bilingual and biliterate
    Experience assisting students in Transitional Studies with intake and assessment.
    Experience in a community college setting
    Experience working with the CASAS assessment and/or with the State system, WABERS
    Experience working with immigrant, refugee, and first generation students

    Work Hours: Part time, 32 hours per week. Typical hours will be 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm Monday through Thursday. Hours may vary during the academic year depending on high volume times during the quarter
