Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Kennesaw State University is focused on student success and committed to ensuring all students can succeed in our programs. We offer American Chemical Society accredited undergraduate programs in chemistry and biochemistry including concentrations in forensic chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry. Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position as Lecturer of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry that begins August 2024. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

A commitment to excellence in teaching and service to the university, department and/or discipline is expected of all non-tenure track faculty. Responsibilities include the following at a minimum:
  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in chemistry and biochemistry with a focus on principles of chemistry lecture and lab
  • Service responsibilities may be limited to the minimum necessary to successfully teach their assigned courses (e.g., attendance at relevant department meetings and participation on appropriate department committees)

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

To teach undergraduate courses:
  • A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in chemistry or biochemistry or a closely related discipline is required.

To teach graduate courses:
  • A Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Chemistry or biochemistry or a related discipline is required


Preferred Qualifications
  • Documentation of experience as instructor of record for at least one chemistry course (lecture or lab) at the collegiate level. This does not include work as a graduate teaching assistant unless the position had primary instructor status (without supervision).
  • Experience teaching large class size
  • Experience with active learning pedagogies
  • Experience supervising teaching assistants
  • Experience teaching or coordinating multi-section courses
