Responsibilities

The Distribution Center Manager reports to the Director, Logistical Services for Physical Plant Management and is responsible for providing overall direction to Physical Plant Management's Distribution Center, its inventory and personnel. The incumbent is responsible for the inventory processes within the Physical Plant Management Department utilizing a complex Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Oversees the activities of staff within the Distribution Center, which include: Storekeepers, Property Clerks, Warehouse Workers, Student Assistants and/or clerical staff to assist in the maintenance and reconciliation of inventory records and the acquisition, relocation and disposal and/or movement of inventory and equipment.
  • Provides a high level of customer service and assistance to PPM and the campus community in the timely acquisition of materials to complete their respective duties.
  • Works closely with the Materials Manager and the Director of Logistical Services to coordinate storage, control, and distribution of inventory. Coordinates with Campus Stores and PPM Distribution Center to provide supplies and equipment for the University.

Qualifications
  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.
  • Minimum two years of full-time, progressively responsible, warehouse and procurement experience, including experience with outside vendor coordination and inventory processes.
  • Experience overseeing unionized employees and knowledge of Physical Plant Management, or like organization, preferred.
  • Valid CA Drivers' License.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Leadership
  • Knowledge of managing, monitoring, and enforcing administrative and financial policies and procedures; and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability and specialized skills to demonstrate diplomacy, cooperation, and willingness to work effectively in a team-oriented environment; maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information; prioritize responsibilities and maintain order when working on multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work productively with minimum supervision, while recognizing the need to share information and keep team members informed of salient situations and circumstances; suggest methods to improve existing practices or recommend new initiatives for continual improvement;
  • Analyze and project staffing requirements, anticipate material/equipment needs and make appropriate budget recommendations; demonstrate excellent customer service skills; effectively communicate verbally and in writing using proper grammar; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
  • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $74,000 - $80,000 per year, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
  • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
