About the Opportunity:
The Northeastern University Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program provides a dynamic academic environment offering fellows the opportunity for a wide breadth of experiences:
  • Develop teaching skills through participation in our Teaching and Learning Seminar series
  • Facilitate small and large group didactic education in partnership with a faculty mentor
  • Utilize a layered learning model in experiential education by co-precepting students on pharmacy practice experiences including Northeastern's unique co-op program
  • Create, present, and publish scholarly research through collaborative industry and university relationships
  • Engage with faculty who participate in various interdisciplinary graduate programs including biotechnology, nanomedicine, immunology, health informatics, and drug discovery
  • Network with area residents and other Northeastern fellows via professional development programs, teaching seminars, and participation on fellowship committees



About Wave Life Sciences
Wave Life Sciences is a clinical-stage genetic medicines company committed to delivering life-changing treatments for people battling devastating diseases. Using PRISM, our proprietary discovery and drug development platform that enables the precise design, optimization and production of novel stereopure oligonucleotides, we aspire to develop best in class medicines across multiple therapeutic modalities. Our goal is to develop and commercialize disease-modifying medicines for genetically defined diseases with a high degree of unmet medical need. Our initial focus for our clinical development programs is in neurology. We are conducting clinical trials of our lead program in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) targeting exon 51 and our two lead programs in Huntington's disease (HD). We are advancing three additional development programs, targeting exon 53 in DMD and C9ORF72 in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and frontotemporal dementia.

Responsibilities:
PROGRAM GOALS
The goal of the two-year fellowship is to gain a thorough understanding of medical affairs to provide the fellow with skills and experience needed for a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
  • Work with the Medical Affairs team, including, but not limited to: Medical Communications and Publications Leads, Medical Science Liaisons, Medical Directors, HEOR, and other relevant team members.

  • Execute strategic scientific publication plans in alignment with Medical Affairs objectives

  • Collaborate with medical communications leads to develop publications including abstracts, posters, and manuscripts with internal authors and external thought leaders according to corporate standards and industry regulations

  • Coordinate congress planning and activities, including medical booths, symposia, and gathering of medical insights on competitor landscape and disease state at scientific meetings.

  • Facilitate KOL engagements in educational forums and advisory boards to support scientific knowledge exchange

  • Review and provide constructive feedback on medical education and training documents

  • Learn to develop a global medical affairs plan and an integrated medical communications plan in collaboration with the leads

    Qualifications:
    Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited institution, eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Massachusetts.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    Excellent oral and written communication, time management, and leadership skills, ability to work independently and take initiative on a variety of projects at the industry site and Northeastern.

  • This position will be based in Lexington, MA and will require domestic and international travel

  • Strong attention to detail, in ensuring medical accuracy, ability to fact-check

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment, meet aggressive timeline and integrate into team-based projects

  • Ability to critically appraise medical/scientific data from multiple sources (clinical trials, literature, etc.) with fine attention to detail
