About the Opportunity:
The Sr Project Manager for Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) Implementation will have execution delivery responsibilities for the LIMS Implementation, and will design, develop and deliver a LIMS technology solution to support the university COVID-19 testing facility. This will be done utilizing commercially off the shelf (COTS) hardware and software and must meet CLIA standards.

The Sr LIMS Implementation Project Manager will be charged with hands-on management of all PMO activities and ensuring accurate status reporting across all Technology workstreams and driving the project outcomes.

The Sr LIMS Project Manager is required to have relevant PMO-related experience specifically in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industries. This experience will be critical in understanding both the process challenges and the technology being implemented, which will help the Project Manager facilitate successful delivery outcomes.

The Sr Project Manager will work closely with various project teams, and the cross-functional Program Core Team. The Sr Project Manager will ensure that the project is in alignment with other inter-dependent projects, programs and stakeholders.

The Sr Project Manager will be responsible for hands-on execution of the full LIMS Implementation inclusive of system integrations. This includes responsibility for:

  • Program and Workstream Governance
  • Scope Management
  • Schedule Management
  • Resource Management
  • Financial Management
  • Risk and Issue Management (including cross-functional impact assessment/mitigation)
  • Dependency Management (both within the program and externally)
  • Integration Management
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Communications and Change Management
  • Business Adoption and Acceptance / Client Satisfaction

    The Sr Project Manager should expect to be heavily involved in presenting and monitoring status, anticipating challenges, unblocking issues, managing dependencies and providing business sponsor and stakeholder transparency for the program through accurate and timely management reporting.

    The Sr Project Manager may also be responsible for collaboration with project managers to ensure successful joint outcomes and accurate management reporting.

    This is an 18-month term position with the possibility of renewal based on funding availability and business need.

    Responsibilities:

    Set Up & Tracking Systems
    • Determine and define project scope and objectives
    • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
    • Prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements
    • Track project costs in order to meet budget
    • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan

    Execution
    • Manage hardware and software needs including procurement, operations, and maintenance
    • Ensure integration with existing university systems in use by Univ. Health and Counseling Services
    • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
    • Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed
    • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress

    Analysis & Review
    • Analyze Lab Information Systems Management procedures and efficacy and report out to Lab Director and Testing Task Force
    • Create SOP Manual to capture processes, results, and lessons learned


    Qualifications:
  • 6-8 years of experience in Project Management and a solid understanding of clinical technology solutions and Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing large-scale, complex projects
  • Experience working specifically on implementing LIMS, including: Systems Integrations within the past 1-5 years
  • Successful track record of managing collaborative projects with vendors and packaged software
  • Actively anticipate, track and plan for risks and issues, dependencies, resourcing and contingencies
  • Escalate issues in a manner that is effective and direct Innovation
  • Demonstrate an analytical, objective, and strategic mindset and a drive to learn new technologies
  • Analyze processes and systems, identifying potential for change
  • LIMS implementation experience from initiate/design to go-live
