Registered Nurse, Student Health Services- Requisition # 18000001Q5

This position supports the Student Health Services (SHS) providers and staff, UTC students, faculty, and staff by promoting wellness and health and providing support for acute and chronic illness. Responsibilities include:

Assisting providers with medical procedures

Triaging and scheduling patients

Returning phone calls

Obtaining lab ordered by providers and notifying patients of the results when appropriate

Calling in medications and refills when directed by providers

Assisting with immunization compliance

Assisting with the College of Health, Education, & Professional Studies' Professional Program requirements

Managing travel health and international student requirements

Support for new student orientation

Provide front desk relief

Mentoring UTC School of Nursing BSN students

Mentoring UTC Health & Human Performance AT students

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing is required. Must hold a current, unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the State of Tennessee or Compact State. Must have current BLS certification. Must have a minimum of 2 years' experience as a nurse in either primary or acute care. Experience as an emergency room or urgent care nurse preferred. Experience with phlebotomy, injections and starting IVs is required. Must have knowledge of and ability to use the Electronic Health Record. Must have knowledge of the culture of quality, safety and caring in a variety of settings with diverse populations. Must be able to respect different cultures, attitudes, values, and expectations of others. Must be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills related to safe patient care. Must be able to effectively communicate with patients, parents, colleagues and university employees. Must have the ability to promote a positive image of nursing by modeling the values and attitudes of the nursing profession. Must practice ethically with integrity. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. Occasional evenings are required.
